Jones Stanley, Rear Admiral

Retired Rear Admiral Jones H. Stanley serves as the President of Lynchburg Regional Air Show Inc. and is the Liaison between the Blue Angels and the Corporation. Rear Admiral Stanley entered the Navy in August 1962 and was designated a Naval Aviator in March 1964. From 1964 thru 1966 he served in various Test and Evaluation units flying and testing an assortment of Navy aircraft. In early 1967, he joined Attack Squadron Eighty Five aboard the aircraft carrier, USS AMERICA, (CVA66)for his first combat cruise to the South China Sea where he flew 88 combat missions over North Vietnam in the A-6E Intruder. In May 1969, Rear Admiral Stanley left the Regular Navy and joined the Naval Reserve, retiring at his present rank on September 01, 1995 with 33 years and six days of Naval Service. In 1969, he was employed as a commercial pilot with Piedmont Airlines, flying YS-11, FH-227, B-727, B-737, B-757 and the Boeing 767 aircraft. Rear Admiral Stanley retired from commercial flying in March 2001 and has been employed as a pilot with Freedom Aviation since that time. In August 2012, he completed 50 years of active flying, having accumulated over 1100 carrier arrested landings and 40,000 flight hours.
